Globalnomad Hotel Review: Zuzuni Boutique Hotel In Boracay, The Philippines

This January, I had the opportunity to stay at 4 star Zuzuni Boutique Hotel during our first GlobalNomad tour of The Philippines ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ญ scouting out cool destinations and experiences for clients. This hidden gem of a hotel is conveniently located along White Beach in between Station 1 and Station 2. Getting to the hotel from Cagban Jetty via motorized tricycle takes about 15 minutes. To actually get to Boracay island, you have to take a short 10 minute ferry ride ๐Ÿ›ณfrom Caticlan port in Malay. The tricycle driver dropped us off on Boracay Highway Central which is the main road and, of course, congested with foot and auto traffic. The hotel is a 2-3 minute walk from the pathway if you know where you are going. If not, finding the hotel is a bit tricky. Locals weren't so great at giving accurate directions...  One tip is to look for their on-site Spanish restaurant, Cozina or Army Navy Burrito's huge sign (you can't miss it). But when we finally made it to the front desk, we were welcomed with smiles and a refreshing welcome ๐Ÿน.

Zuzuni is a small boutique hotel with just 14 guest-rooms. You can't beat it's super convenient location on White Beach where all the action is. Plus it's just footsteps from the beach as well as nearby restaurants, bars, clubs, shops, etc.

If you want less crowds and noise, exit the hotel and walk right on the sandy strip towards Station 1 and Banyugan Beach. Get great unobstructed sunset photos the further you go up the beach. Feel like partying, shopping or eating? Head left from the hotel for the D Mall and the surrounding area. You are right smack in the middle of the best of both worlds.

I had the pleasure of staying in a Beachfront with Balcony Room. One of my favorite things about the hotel is its stylish Mediterranean deco. The crisp white washed walls transported me to Greece. The wood furnishings and accents made it feel very beach-y and casual. The beachfront balcony is heavenly. Other awesome room features include: amazing air conditioning, bath products and cozy memory foam bed. When traveling, what's more important than that?

Surprisingly for being on the main strip close to all the bars and clubs, the noise is minimal in the room at night (with the balcony door closed of course). I can personally vouch for its cleanliness. The hotel is spotless and meticulously cared for by the staff.

One downside which really didn't bother me was the size of the room. It's a bit tight but also remember the balcony is quite big and you are probably going to spend most of your time outside relaxing on the beach, doing excursions or exploring the town.

The hotel also offers Standard and Premiere Beachfront Rooms as well as a 2 Bedroom Loft with Sea View.

The only issue for me was the wifi. It just did not want to work for me in the room which I really didn't mind because a digital detox is good every now and then. The only place where the wifi did work was on the first floor in the restaurant area. On the day before checking out, we ate at Cozina and chatted with the manager, May. The ๐ŸŒฎ and soup that we ordered were ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘. I didn't get the chance to eat the churros but they looked delicious and they are a big crowd pleasure! Cozina stands out from the rest of ordinary restaurants on the island.  Plus it is very affordable. Check it out even if you are staying elsewhere on the island!

Final word: By and large Zuzuni gets GlobalNomad's approval! Who doesn't want luxury value accommodation at affordable prices? Standard rooms start around $60 USD; and trust us even if you are on a budget, this is the place to stay. This hotel is perfect for independent travelers and couples who are done with staying at cheap hostels with sandpaper sheets and really appreciate a luxurious bed. We would definitely return to the hotel for another stay next time we are in town. Zuzuni is often fully booked (especially during peak tourist periods) so making arrangements in advance is a must!
